  • After teaching for ten years, I sat back and thought about what I had accomplished, what I had enjoyed doing, and what others had come to expect of me. Besides teaching, I found that my passions included community service, entrepreneurship, and technology. As a result, I developed a personal mission statement: I use technology to connect people to community impact. Many people boast that if you do what you love, then you will never have to work a day in your life. I like the concept of “performing in my purpose.” Whenever I work with people, I use my personal mission statement as a personal litmus test to decide whether or not I am performing in my purpose. I have now come to realize the responsibility I have to share what God has given to me with others. Because “my” purpose really is “his” purpose. Amen!

Howard University

School of Education

2006-2009
At the most prestigious Historically Black College & University in America, Howard University (http://www.howard.edu/schooleducation/), I obtained my Masters of Education in Secondary Education while teaching High School English at schools in Washington, DC.
George Washington University

Bachelors of Arts in English, Minors in Creative Writing & Criminal Justice

2002-2006
After graduating from the Bronx High School of Science, the 2nd top high school in New York State, I moved to Washington, DC to attend the George Washington University.  I studied English and Criminal Justice here, since I’ve always had a strong sense of justice.  While on campus I was on the Executive Board of the Black Student Union.  I contributed to planning monthly events as well as led the Black History Month Committee.  We also brought famous persons such as MC Lyte and Dick Gregory to campus.  I revived the Black student campus newsletter by calling it “The Black Ace” as well as the campus choir “The Voices of Inspiration.”  I am pleased to say they are thriving today, over a decade since I’ve graduated.  I helped run a historic campaign with a fellow African-American male student to become Student Association President of a dominantly white school.  To this day, I remain connected to my university by representing my regional chapter as well as volunteering to plan my class’s reunion.
